CONCERN for veterans will be on the minds of this years poppy collectors as local branches start planning this years appeal.
County Councillor Paul Turner, is the president of the Seascale and Sellafield Royal British Legion Branch. He has seen how local veterans are feeling right now and hopes people will find some loose change, to help then in this years poppy appeal. He said: “ The Poppy Appeal is an important annual event but what we must remember is that this help is needed all year round.
“Recently we have seen the suffering of our people in recent conflicts, highlighted with the withdrawal of our support in Afghanistan. The people of Copeland are always very generous and as we move out of lock down and as pubs and shops become more open, please pop your change in the box on the bar or counter. Every penny make a difference.
“The Seascale and Sellafield branch of the Royal British Legion, is one of many in West Cumbria, that are now recruiting for volunteers, in order to get this year’s appeal underway. If you can help please email SeascaleSellafield.Chairman@rbl.community.”
This year’s poppy appeal runs from October 28 to November 11.
