VOLUNTEERS are needed for this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
The appeal raises vital funds to support serving and ex-serving men and women and their families during Remembrance in October and November, culminating with Remembrance Sunday on November 11.
Local poppy appeal fundraiser Alan Whitmore is calling for volunteers who live “within striking distance of Whitehaven” to contact him to help distribute and collect poppies and boxes to places like the pubs, the schools, and the service station.
“It's a great way to support a charity because it's not all-year round," he said.
"It's just for a couple of weeks and we can use just two hours of your time
“The impact is very significant.
“We also need to find some storage.
"So if you know of or run a business which might have some spare space we could keep our poppies and boxes please share this on social media and help if you can.”
If anyone can help, they can contact Alan by email at awhitmore@britishlegion.org.uk or by phone on 07458 090259.
