A local theatre company will be hosting their first production since the pandemic began starting this September.
Whitehaven and District Amateur Operatic Society will be hosting a production of Annie in Whitehaven Civic Hall starting on Wednesday 15th September and running through to the following Saturday.
We spoke to Lynne McTiffon from the Operatic Society about her thoughts on running the production this year and the issues they've had over the pandemic.
Mrs McTiffon said: "We were devastated that the show couldn't go ahead in 2020, all of the children and staff were so upset.
"However we're delighted now we can go ahead with it after all the hard work.
"The fact that we can produce live theatre in the community is good news all round."
The company have faced quite a lot of financial difficulty since Covid began as they have been unable to perform and support the society.
Lynne explained how it can be rather costly to host the great performances that they do so they are hoping that theatre lovers will help to make their performances a full house.
They are currently looking for sponsors from local businesses and a place to store their costumes and equipment.
This will help them to continue to bring fascinating productions to our town.
Annie will be being played by Neve Finn and Miss Hannigan will be played by Tracey Mcouat.
The society work with actors from across the country to ensure the best quality production.
Mrs McTiffon added: "It's wonderful to see the excitement of all the kids, it's electric, they're all raring to go.
"We're so happy but at the same time we're apprehensive but we think we timed it well."
