Farmers and landowners setting up pop-up campsites for the summer holidays are being urged to have a flood plan in place to keep campers safe.
The Environment Agency are urging pop-up campsite owners to check their flood risk, warning that flash floods can happen any time of the year.
Last August (2020) Storm Ellen and then Storm Francis both hit in the summer holiday season bringing heavy rain.
The Environment Agency is also advising pop-up campsite owners to sign up for free flood warnings, or call Floodline on 0345 988 1188.
You can also check up to date weather warnings on www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice.
Owners can find more information on how to prepare for flooding, what to do during and after a flood and how to prepare a site plan at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/camping-and-caravan-sites-minimise-your-flood-risk.
