A ROAD closure in Whitehaven town centre is not due to last beyond this week.
In a notice served by Cumbria County Council, Church Street in Whitehaven has been closed to vehicles from its junction with Roper Street extending in a north- easterly direction.
The notice came into force on Monday and it is expected that the work will take two days.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via Roper Street, Market
Place, Strand Street, Lowther Street and the unrestricted section of Church Street.
To facilitate the alternative route detailed above and allow two-way traffic flow, the existing one-way restriction on Church Street, Whitehaven, from its junction with Lowther Street extending in a south-westerly direction for approximately 90m will be temporarily suspended.
