It was third time lucky for an Aspatria couple when they married at St Nicholas Church, Flimby in October.

Teaching assistant Joanna Robley and process operator Steven Foster had booked their wedding to take place in May at the Lingholm Estate in Keswick but due to the coronavirus they moved the date to November.

Further restrictions forced them to move the date back to October with a new venue for the reception for fifteen guests at Armathwaite Hall.

Joanna and Steven have been together since January, 2013 and got engaged on a canal boat holiday while away with Joanna’s sister and brother-in-law in Manchester in July, 2018.

Following a family tradition, the wedding took place at St Nicholas’ Church, Flimby, where Joanna’s mum and sister had both been married.

The bride wore a dress and veil from Te Amo in Workington with a fur shrug from Carol’s Bridal Boutique in Carlisle and Kurt Geiger shoes.

Her jewellery and headband were items she had worn for her prom and were gifts from her late grandparents.

The bride’s hair was done was done by Yasmin Chloe Hair Design in Maryport who went to Netherhall School, Maryport with Joanna and her make up was done by Elegant Touch in Maryport.

The bridegroom was supported by his brother David Foster as best man and the bride’s brother-in-law Matthew Iredale, who was usher, and they all wore suits from Goodfellows Menswear Carlisle.

The bride’s sister, Melissa Iredale, was her maid of honour and bridesmaids were Megan Clark, her best friend from school, and Hayley Foster, the bride’s sister-in-law, who all wore dresses from Carol’s Bridal Boutique in Carlisle.

Another family tradition was followed as the bridal flowers were done by Floral Design, Workington, who also provided the flowers for the bride’s mum when she got married in 1985.

The wedding transport was provided by Cumbria Classic Wedding Cars.

The couple gave their guests favours of Grasmere Gingerbread and five sugared almonds, and the wedding cake was hand-painted by The Bakery at No 4 in Kendal.

Covid restrictions also impacted on their planned honeymoon but they did manage to spend a few days at the Laura Ashley Hotel in Bowness on Windermere.

The bride is the daughter of Belinda and Mark Robley from Flimby, Maryport, and the groom is the son of Jacqui and Gary Foster from Watchhill, Aspatria.
