THE achievements of young performers have been celebrated by a theatre school.
Razzamataz West Cumbria held its annual awards evening at Whitehaven Golf Club where a range of awards were presented to the whole school.
They included a range of accolades including mini of the year through to achievement awards in dance, drama and singing.
There was also the performer of the year and a very special award named after a member of the Razzamataz head office staff who sadly passed away.
Principal Matty Rayson-Aitchison said: “These awards represent what our Razz community is about and seek to shine a light on every child.
“We look to acknowledge not just the most talented students, but those with a great attitude to learning, those that have overcome shyness and those who are great class members. It is important that children get recognised for their efforts as much as their ability and it encourages all students to reach for a goal.”
The awards are a huge celebration for the whole school with each class performing a short piece for parents and friends.
There was a disco and an entertainer at the the event.
The awards celebration is just one of the many events that are offered at Razzamataz West Cumbria.
“As well as dance, drama and singing classes, we also offer special industry-led workshops as well as special performance opportunities,” added Matty. “We find these additional events really inspire the students and the whole teaching team and helps to keep students motivated and challenged.”
Over the next couple of months, Razzamataz West Cumbria will host an Easter School at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington from April 7 to 9 as well as fundraising for the company’s charity Future Fund to help a Razzamataz student through further performing arts education.
Matty added: “Razzamataz West Cumbria is a wonderful school full of dedicated students, teachers, staff and families.
“There are lots of opportunities planned and many exciting events that we are currently working on.”
There’s currently a chance to attend a free trial day where parents and children can find out about all the opportunities at the school.
Classes start at age two and continue until 18.
