A FORMER Whitehaven man has been awarded one of the highest nursing degree results in the history of the University of Leeds.
As well as a First Class Honours degree in Adult Nursing, Billy Flinn received the Eva Moynihan prize for his "outstanding" performance.
Mr Flinn graduated having displayed good practice; achieved academically and attended 100 per cent of the course.
Billy's dad, Martin Flinn, who attended the ceremony with his wife and Billy's older sister, said: "It was a very moving experience. Just graduating itself was an achievement, but receiving an award was the icing on the cake."
Billy Flinn attended St. Benedict's School in Whitehaven, his father Martin said his university result "will shine well on the school."
Although originally from Whitehaven he now lives in Leeds where he attended university. Having shown "professional conduct and ambassadorship," Billy has received multiple job offers, however, he will continue to work as a critical care nurse at Leeds General Infirmary.
