The Gothic style church built for £10,000 in 1877, closed in 1996 due to maintenance costs proving too big a burden for a dwindling congregation.
It is Grade II listed and currently belongs to a Warrington property company.
It got planning permission to turn it into a piano bar and nightclub back in 2004 which at the time proved controversial.
It has a unique stone cladding of Eskdale pink granite and was built on the site of an old mansion belonging to a prominent Whitehaven merchant of the day, Walter Lutwidge.
In 2012 it failed to sell at auction with a guide price of £50,000.
Prior to that it was on the market, valued at between £150,000 – £200,000 and said to be a victim of the property slump.
