THURSZ, Tony - Passed away peacefully, following a short illness, in Cumberland Infirmary on Tuesday, 12th September 2017, aged 89 years. The family will hold a private cremation. A memorial service will be arranged in due course. Donations in memory of Tony, if desired, to Age UK c/o Adams, Read & Hocking Funeral Directors, Towerson Street, Cleator, CA23 3EL.

Please know how very saddened I was to hear of the death of Mr Thursz. I worked with Mr Thursz at the Cumbrian Independant Hospital. I was the Theatre Sister. He was one of the most Charasmatic people I have ever known, and had the pleasure to work with, and, of course he was a brilliant surgeon. I loved working with him.
A fond memory is that he really loved my signature bake, chocolate cake, filled with chocolate ganache covered in galaxy chocolate, I would make one when he was operating at the Independent Hospital. He always took some home for Josephine and the 'boys'.
I send my deepest condolences to all the family. Having lost someone so special leaves a void in ones life, May God give you all the strength you need at this sad time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
May Mr Thursz rest in peace, he is once again reunited with his beloved Josephine.
