Robson John
ROBSON, John - I would like to express my deep appreciation to all those who helped me and subsequently my family following the untimely and unexpected loss of my husband John, on Saturday 12th March. I appreciated the professional and considerate assistance given by the ambulance service, the police and (later) the Coroner's Office. I would like to thank my daughters: Susan, who ran up from her home to help and Mandy, who came to lend support a few minutes later, also my sons: Paul, who came to remove from me some of the difficulties in making the appropriate arrangements; and James, who was at Murrayfield with the Scottish R.U. team but having ensured they were through the last training session, came back to the family home. It must have been a lonely journey. I am also proud that he returned to the Scottish R.U. for their game the following day. I am touched that the players donated the match ball to John. Thank you to the staff at Queen Street Medical Practice and Dr Graham Ironside who looked after John wonderfully over a number of years, to Mike Jolly and all those at Eaves Funeral Service for their advice and in organising the funeral so professionally and to the bearers: Biffa (David), Scanner (Allan), Christian, Stephen, James and Michael (grandson), who all volunteered to carry John. My deep appreciation also goes to Simon (Si) Walker, the associate vicar at St John's, Hensingham, for his help and guidance, along with a wonderful service for John, a man who lived life to the full, who was a generous person, who helped many over the years and who asked for nothing in return. Finally my thanks go to Mackie, Dawn and the staff at the Sunnyhill for the wonderful buffet they prepared on behalf of John and his family. He would have been proud because they did it 'his way'.
