Greeting

Devlin Raymond

DEVLIN, Raymond - The family of the late Raymond Devlin would like to offer thanks to those who offered support and kindness over the past few weeks. We are greatly appreciative to those who undertook the role of pallbearers - Brian Hodgson, Tom Scott, Bob West, Edward Waldron, Bill Stanaway and Raymond's grandson, Saul Woodend. Thank you Brian for the organisation and planning offered. Special thanks, also, to John Muir who was the dedicated Standard Bearer throughout the service. Ray would have been extremely proud of the Guard of Honour, sincere thanks to his military ex-colleagues for this thoughtful gesture. Ray would also have been very proud of his granddaughter, Sunny Woodend, for the delivery of the eulogy. Pauline Southward kindly agreed to sing Panis Angelicus - as ever, her rendition was beautiful and greatly appreciated. Additional thanks to the organist and bugler. For his efficient and sensitive approach to requests, we are grateful to Mike Jolly, Funeral Director, from Eaves Funeral Service Ltd. Thank you Father Richard Simons for leading the service at St Begh's Priory, and for your prior assistance. I would like to acknowledge Margaret Crosby and Julie Morgan from the Whitehaven News, for their involvement in the recent article about Ray's life and contributions to the area. Finally, we would like to thank all who attended to celebrate the fulfilling, positive life that Ray had led, to those who sent cards, flowers and tributes and to those who offered much needed words of comfort. Being so totally organised, my father would have been more than satisfied with the organisation and standard of the day, but this was only made possible due to the involvement of many. We are genuinely so thankful for everyone's participation and truly grateful that the day was made so special. To all who made donations to CAFOD, please accept our sincere thanks.
