THE 2024 Irton Group Art Show will be staged this month.
The event will take place this weekend October 26 and October 27 at Santon Village Hall.
The group was formed in 2009 by artists around the area to act as a self-help and encouragement circle for individuals who otherwise tend to work in relative isolation within our largely scattered communities.
A spokesperson said: "Members will be showing new artworks, which always reflect the diversity of approach within the group.
"The result is always an exhibition that is both challenging and enjoyable to the viewer. Styles and subject matter range from the traditional to the abstract, calling at various points between.
"It is these wide boundaries that make Irton Group exhibitions that little bit different. The artists like to experiment – each month the group meets for art workshops at the hall, in which members concentrate on a particular aspect of art.
"An agreed theme is usually mentored by one of the group, who provides guidance to start the day, followed by encouragement to develop and diversify.
"Recent workshops have included women artists, working with trees and silhouettes, floral painting, and life drawing. Whenever possible, the group enjoys visiting art exhibitions such as Printfest at Ulverston."
The exhibition at the hall runs for Saturday and Sunday, open 11-4 both days, with free parking and entry. Refreshments will be available, in the form of tea, coffee, and cakes.
The artists man the show themselves and are happy to chat about their work and to anyone interested in joining the group.
