A WOMAN has been brought before a court for being in possession of an XL Bully dog without a Certificate of Exemption.
Molly Story, 21, pleaded guilty to possessing or having custody of a fighting dog when she appeared before Workington Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The offence took place in Egremont on August 7 and involved an XL Bully dog called Fury.
John Cooper, defending, said police had been looking for someone else when they saw the dog, which is a banned breed. Story hadn’t applied for an exemption order.
Story, of Brisco Mount, Egremont, will be sentenced for the offence on November 20.
- From February 1, 2024, it became a criminal offence to own an XL Bully dog in England and Wales unless the dog has a valid Certificate of Exemption.
