Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team responded to a callout on Ullswater to assist a man who had been sailing and hit a rock.
The team was contacted by Cumbria Police on Saturday evening asking them to assist the male who had hit a rock about 40 metres from the shore.
Using their inflatable boat 'Patrick Pete', they were able to quickly reach the person who they escorted back to his mooring near Pooley Bridge.
They wrote on Facebook: "The team responded and using their Rescue Rib 'Patrick Pete' they were quickly on scene.
"They found the boat immobilised sitting on the rock, it was carefully towed off the rock and after checking for any damage and leaks, the male was escorted back to his mooring near Pooley Bridge.
The incident took two hours and involved six team members.
