RESIDENTS have raised concerns about ongoing roadworks in West Cumbria.
Some residents living in the Cleator area have shared their concern about roadworks taking place on the A5086, running from Trumpet Terrace into Cleator.
In a letter addressed to those living in the area, Cumberland Council said that they will be carrying out footway reconstruction and carriageway resurfacing works.
Works on the footway require a combination of 2-way and 3-way temporary traffic lights.
The work began on September 23 and will run for five weeks.
From October 28, Cumberland Council has said the road will be closed under four separate phases, for the contractor to complete the remainder of the footway reconstruction and carriageway resurfacing works.
One resident said: "Traffic is already a concern, so I think the roadworks could impact this especially due to the amount of time they are going on for."
Another resident said: "At certain times of the day I find it difficult to cross the road as a dog walker because of the build-up of traffic."

Another resident added: "The only way you can get from Woodend to Wath Brow is by travelling on the fell road, which is a single-track road.
"People will be using that narrow road instead meaning that driver's cars and wing mirrors could get damaged.
"Some drivers may also try to speed on this road which could cause problems."
The resident continued: "I'd also like to ask why the workers are only doing an eight-hour day.

"If it had been elsewhere in the country the authorities would have been working 24/7 to get the road up and running again.
"I think this could make myself and other residents feel isolated, as it is a long way around for people to get to Egremont."
Cumberland councillor Michael Eldon added: "I asked for a drop-in session to be held alongside highway officers, and it was well attended.
"The majority of residents who attended said it was a positive.
"It will be ten weeks of work for a road that will last thirty years."
