AUGUST is surely one of the most exciting months of the year.

The sun is out and everything feels a little bit more cheerful.

Many people will also be spending more time with their friends and family.

Lots of people will be going abroad or enjoying 'staycations' right here in the UK.

For those who'll be spending summer here in Cumbria, there is still a whole host of things to do.

Of course, one thing that people love when the sun is out is a pint.

So many of us flock to pubs and beer gardens to enjoy an ice-cold refreshing drink as the sun beats down on us.

And of course what better place to enjoy a drink in the sun than by the sea?

Cumbria has some of the most stunning coastlines in the UK, and many seaside resorts are popular with both residents and tourists alike.

Here at Newsquest we've done the hard work for you and found four of the most enticing seaside pubs across North and West Cumbria.

There are so many amazing pubs by the sea that are well worth a visit, but we've whittled them down to four which we think stand out.
